This month, meet one of our longest members, who has been with us since nearly the beginning of the club - Delight Newlight.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Kirkland, WA, but have lived in Bellingham since 1966.
What do you do?
I was a financial advisor for 35 years. The last 14 years was the greatest, as I partnered with my son, George Mundell.
What is one fun fact about you?
I have belonged to the Bellingham Tennis Club since near its beginning for 45 years.
What’s your favorite thing about coming to BTTC?
Seeing the smiling faces greeting me at the desk across from the entry.
What’s your best piece of fitness or healthy living advice for others?
My advice is to always have some sort of exercise one does daily. (I know we all miss sometimes, but “daily” is the goal.) It’s easy and fun to do if one belongs to the club, as there are tennis, classes, and exercise machines from which we can choose. Just walking around the block at home is helpful, too.
Of course, eating well with the goal of sticking to favorable carbohydrates such as vegetables instead of unfavorable such as cookies. I don’t meet that goal, but I vow to keep trying. It’s hard to give up those crackers and cookies!! Also, I have noticed it seems harder to meet the above goals as I get older. So, do it while you are young, so you will be in great shape as you age!!
