I am fresh back from a week at Rancho La Puerta (click here for link), in Tecate Mexico, where I was asked to be a presenter during their week filled with fitness classes, mind-body sessions, and art classes. I gave presentations on Healthy Knees followed by workshops for strength training and cycling.

As a presenter, I had plenty of free time to take other classes. Since my foot is still healing from my big toe arthritis surgery, instead of taking every fitness class I could (my normal M.O.), I opted for the daily drawing and watercolor class and a cooking class. What fun!

It was a good reminder for me that its OK to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. While I am no Georgia O’Keeffe or Julia Child, it was fun to explore art and cooking. Who knows, maybe I’ll buy that sketch pad and practice drawing still life in the kitchen!

A special shout out to Member Emma Hawthorn who made the connections for me to open the door to teaching at the ranch. They have asked me back and I am so thankful.

So, the moral of this story is…TRY SOMETHING NEW!

That could be your 2024 goal – do 1 new thing per month. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, just something you’ve never done before. I love this idea so much that I’ll do it too!
